Ame writes, “This work speaks to the fragmented nature of childhood memories and is inspired by a self-portrait by my son Thomas. The title references the hippocampus, a brain structure crucial for memory—both short- and long-term. It plays a key role in awareness and the recollection of facts and experiences. This work merges Thomas’s portrait with drawings from our shared adventures, reflecting how our memories are often incomplete yet deeply significant.”
